A very good friend of mine invited us to the party.
Our intent was simply to state that we believe the UPC needs to stay a holiness movement. This accusation of power, fame and money hunger is unfounded.
I just wanted to post my awareness of our condemnation. I don't expect this site to like our website. I don't expect you to respect us on any level.
Our intent is for the UPC to remain an organization made of Churches and Ministry that maintains our traditional holiness stands.
Of course that makes us mean, evil, tyrants.
And of course that is what it has to be.
Why would anyone stay in the UPC if they so hate, defame and denigrate the very essense of what the UPC is.
In addition, these things are your Mothers, Grandmothers, and the very image of people who have done so many wonderful things.
Thanks Ed. Thanks AFF for being true to yourselves.

I've posted family pictures of many of those who were among the founders of the UPC and its predecessor orgs. They wore "short" pants, slacks on women and the women wore jewelry and had "bobbed hair." There is even one picture of several sisters whose family names you would immediately recognize standing beside a lake in bathing suits circa 1920.
Those are "our grandmothers..." They didn't look anything like their own daughters and grand daughters. What changed? Why did that change occur? Why do nice folks like yourself deny that such a change even took place despite all of the pictures from previous General Conferences and such?
Why don't you guys even address these changes and ignore all questions about them? Massive sweeping changes were made round about 1950 to 1975. Why deny this? It's recorded right there in the changes to our Articles of Faith, manual and Fundamental Doctrine. All of these things were changed during that time period.
Sorry, Bro. But I'm old enough to remember some of the "old days" and I have stacks (Gigs) of family photos that belie your assertions.
Why did you leave the old paths?

How old are these pictures. I have been around UPC as long as there has been a UPC and PCI before that. Holiness standards is not new or at least since the early 30's.

Circa 1920's mostly - Elder G.T. Haywood's disciples and successors. At home, at play, having good ol' fashioned fun. One from the 1950's.

I still do believe in holiness, and in an outward modesty standard. However, I believe that what we teach on modesty should stand up to uestioning and be consistent with the scripture. Not just a "do it or go to hell" attitude.
And when someone sincerely asks a questions as "A Quiet Place" did, you come out and call them a PIG?
You give people like me a bad name, we who believe in holiness are lumped in with judgmental, self-rightous, lovers of tradition--more than lovers of God's Word and God's people, hold the fort-not reach the world, modern day Pharisees. This amongst other things by people who think holiness is on the outside, and not the inside, is why I have considered having our church take the word "holiness" out of the name.
And NO, it's not becuse we don't believe in holiness, because we do, including dresses, hair, and all the outward stuff that you guys push. But because holiness is inside way more than outside, and because we don't want to be lumped in with the "holiness" folks who dress the part but walk around bitter, frowny, and without the joy.
It's just like the preacher said, "Someone told me they saw some church/holiness people at the mall. I said, How'd you know they were church people. He said, Because they looked mad." Funny, yet sad, and unfortunately true all too often.

Ok, I only thought the side-part holiness standard was weird, but now I'm really getting weirded out.
