I think you will appreciate where the author is coming from on the Manual....People talk about it being to big and the straw that broke the camels back...But he weighted the Manual and it is only 9 ounces. Less than a ribeye steak for dinner....He had a good approach....I agree with both....

I'm a UPC preacher also. I agree that DB's article regarding uncut hair is a good one, but I have to say the premise of the Manual article, i.e., it only weighs 9 ounces, is downright silly. I don't think I know even one licensed minister who is not in direct violation of some part of the manual. And in that respect it has become quite heavy and cumbersome. Whether we like to admit it or not, this universal inconsistency has produced a weight of hypocrisy akin to the Pharisees, who Jesus frequently chastised while taking up for harlots and publicans in the same breath. I wonder how much the ceremonial law of the Old Testament weighs? I think in my slimline King James version, it is actually quite a bit less than our little 9-ounce manual. Well, the Pharisee large print edition was probably more like 16 ounces. But c'mon, that's not all that heavy! Maybe we had better start checking our brother's shirts to make sure there are no mixed fabrics. I think soon broad phylacteries could make a comeback. But until then, see you at the theater! (only in Branson, of course)
