We've been evolving, well, since the beginning of time and I think it would behoove us to not stand and say - "I have all truth".
None of us have everything or know everything. As time moves on, the Lord opens our eyes and gives us greater and deeper understanding - if we allow it.
To be fearful of change is normal. I understand that. Once you open the gate, you are very hard pressed to close it again. To want to throw out things without time, thought and prayer is not good either.
Sometimes we can pray and not want to change, therefore, it's harder to hear the voice of God for our lives. I've been in prayer and cut the voice of God off because I did not like the way it was going. I think we could, if we were honest, agree that we have done that. It still went His way, but it was just a little more painful not to be on the same page, in the beginning. LOL!

You are right. I want to always be open to understand new things God has for me!

LOL! When I started getting in the UPC, I met some of the most hypocritical, stupid, angry and hateful people. I was at Youth Camp when we had to wear the name badges. I got up to go the ladies room and a preacher stopped me, "Where is your name badge?!"
"I have on a silk dress and didn't want the pin to tear my dress."
"I don't care. Go put on your name badge."
In the dining room, I go up to the table. They are serving lunch meat, white bread, processed cheese, etc. I told the woman I was allergic and could I have another piece of meat because I couldn't eat the white bread and cheese.
"No, that is all you get."
I go to the next table to see if I might be able to pick up another piece of meat. She is straining her neck to make sure I don't get another piece! Hilarious!
I sat at the table and told my friends I was bunking with, "If this is what the Holy Ghost is about, I'm going back to the Baptist Church!"
That night I received the Holy Ghost!!! LOL!
You see, God doesn't stop what He has planned for our lives because of some people who are selfish, rude, ignorant and foolish. KWIM?

Great post, PO!!!!
God does work in spite of people, but it's a shame that He has to work around His own folks instead of through them.

I would NEVER do such a thing, however, I must say that I find the timing of this declaration suspect.
I find the signing of the declaration by WPF office holders equally suspect, and quite interesting.
I find the attitude that anyone who questions any of this as not being of right spiritual mind, and though not stated in those terms that is the intent...I find that attitude typical.
There is at least one of the designers of wedeclare.org whom I have respected for years...I am saddened at this obvious attempt to make a stand, and for what?!
Political posturing...that's it in the nutshell!!

If He filled me with His Spirit in spite of....He is working through me. He is working through those that want what He wants. He always has and always will.
Psalm 73:2-3;20-26
(2) But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
(3) For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
(20) As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
(21) Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
(22) So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
(23) Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
(24) Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
(25) Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
(26) My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

I agree, that is the way it has been and still is preached. WE have it all!

Me too. I remember getting in trouble as a young child telling a neighbor she was going to hell since she was Baptist.

Re: My Name is on www.wedeclare.org
I was called into the principal's office when I was in 7th grade for telling a Mormon girl she was going to Hell in a classroom setting!
