So not true, girl. LOL!

Totally agree. That goes along with any parent - in or out of church - that puts restrictions on their kids. They will sneak stuff in and change at school - the woman wanting to come out. lol

My point was not that the flamboyance was wrong... I don't mind it, I can be a tad flamboyant myself at times. I love gorgeous things, and I like to look pretty. My point was just that it can be a bit of a double standard. Don't tell me that jewelry is a sin, but a $500 pair of shoes, isn't, kwim?

That is my whole point as well.

Rules always have loopholes. This is why current legislation usually runs into the thousands of pages by the time it is signed into law as they try to anticipate every contingency. This is why someone will not wear earnings (and be proud of it!) yet wear those megabuck shoes and two cans of hairspray with every strand of hair tweaked to perfection.

Principles have no loopholes.

Well, how many women actually spend that much on a pair of shoes? See what I'm saying? - it's an extreme. When we get together to party with God and each other - let's dress up! I have no problem with that.

I'd rather have a gorgeous outfit on any day then loaded down with jewelry. I hate necklaces, earrings and rings. I feel chained up and claustrophobic! I also have to, always, wear pumps that slip on and off. I can't have straps or I go nuts!! LOL!

Been there, done that - it's not a big deal to me. I love all of it. Just not the snotty people who can't be touched, but I met them in the Catholic Church, Baptist Church and on the job as well, KWIM?

But the point I'm making is not extreme. Don't tell me that jewelry is a sin (I don't believe it is), but other adornment is not. That's a double standard. You can't wear a necklace, but you can take that necklace apart and sew it on your dress, and that's okay. That just is not consistent.

The same thing with modesty. Don't harp continuously on modesty, where it applies to your pet issues (pants, sleeves), but not include the full meaning of the word - to draw unnecessary attention to yourself.

It's the double standard that gets me.

I agree with you on the no jewelry, but wear the bling on our clothing. That is stupid.

But as far as dressing to the hilt - hey - I don't even own casual pajamas, so what do I know! LOL!

I am in your camp on clothing, PO! I love beautiful clothes. And shoes. And purses. And shoes. And shoes.

I don't love double standards.
