Re: Wedeclare.org Delves into Comedy

Would anyone get mad at me if I confessed to trying to put Richard Gazowsky's name on the list?

It didn't work.

It would only look good to their pastors and other leadership if those men signed as well. The signers did run the risk of looking bad to many of their pastors and other leaders.

I just had the hardest time taking it seriously with the "bifurcated garment" thing. The fact that they backed that out was telling. The fact that they left an "edited" comment in it's place was perhaps commendable.

Still, is that all there is left of the Apostolic Faith? A bunch of guys sitting around grousing about how many ways they can be offended? There are of course many incredible exceptions, but still - this seems to be the impression that we go out of our way to project.

So far, I haven't seen anyone around here, including his pastor, sign that website.

Re: Wedeclare.org Delves into Comedy

I guess it is because of living in Tennessee and thinking like a Hillbilly but every time I see the name of that site in my mind I see an old country woman like Minnie Pearl hollaring out "Whooooeeee..... I do declare it is hot in here!!!!!!"

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

No CC1. I think that is who they hired to write their statement of faith.
