There's a lot more to emergent than just that. Those show the lighter side of the emergent movement. There is a darker side to it that questions everything, demands tolerance of everything and pushes relativism.

I agree with both posts. I may not agree with PM on some issues and messages ... but I'm sure he understands the weight of stating he was following God's lead.

Grace Amazing, you have just called PM a liar, questioned his integrity and attached nefarious motives to him. *gasp* His motives must be pure and spiritual and not include mundane conspiratorial considerations like retirment planning.

PM can say that he could have been the GS if he had wanted it. That gives him a LOT of political clout!

He can now keep his current position and have a heavy say in the direction the UPCI chooses to take.

I hope you are being sarcastic *gasp*...

He is a good man...he just thinks his family should be in pastorship after he leaves and the church isn't ready for that I'm afraid. I went to IBC and it is a great school and that is in large part due to Mooney's progressive thinking...and if he felt the Holy Ghost told him not to do it, then let's all thank God that he listened AND obeyed!!!

Such cynicism is sad...

The devil can go on vacation as there are plenty of folks ready to take over as accusers of their brother.

Would you be cynical if Rex Johnson said that God told him to leave the UPCI because it was too conservative? Would you accuse RJ of being off base?

I'm cynical of ANYONE who says that GOD told them to do anything! Why can't a preacher OWN UP to his decision instead of putting it off on God? Is it because if it turns out to be the wrong decision, it's God's fault and not theirs?

Why can't a preacher say, "After much prayer and consideration, I have decided...."?

I think I know.......because saying "God told me" gives it special spiritual weight!

Mr. Steinway, don't you think God can 'tell' us something after 'much prayer'? If not, why have 'much prayer'?

Apparently you and others don't believe God speaks or directs people anymore ... incredible.

Just posted along the same thought ...

Everythings relevant. God doesn't speak or direct anymore. It's every persons decision for themself ... God isn't in the equation.
