Re: Post UPCI Gen Supt. Election Questions

BTW, I see nothing wrong with a preacher saying, "I feel that I have heard from God".

I guess this is a sign of how far some of us have drifted into narcissism.

Paul was a spiritual elitist.

Peter was a spiritual elitist.

At least according to your measure.

Do you really want to debate whether or not God has stopped speaking to individuals?

You have no Bible for that; in fact, the Word is clearly on my side in this little confab.

Neither do I.

But if God speaks to a man, I don't believe it makes him an elitist if he says so.

You must not believe in the Gifts of the Spirit, either, then.

How else does a man receive a word of knowledge?

A prophecy?

You can give me personal experiences where some crackpot said he heard from God when he didn't; I will give you Word.

Maybe you ought to hang around a better class of preachers if your confidence is so shaken that you are ready to discount the clear teaching of Scripture.

I am thankful to know and fellowship men who do hear from God.

Peter and Paul actually heard the audible voice of God! When they said "The Lord said", well...............the Lord actually said!

God does indeed speak to us. I believe he has given me direction on a number of occasions. It wasn't an audible voice, so I can't factually say that "God told me."! I felt impressed in my spirit or have felt a "release" about a decision that I believe was of God after prayer.

Like I said earlier, I see nothing wrong with saying "I believe that God told me.."

When preachers on different sides of a political issue BOTH say that God told them or spoke to them, who do you believe? The one that agrees with your opinion?

And if Paul Mooney is who you are worried about, I was there.
He said, "I felt checked in my spirit." He didn't say, "God said."

Is that generic enough?

Not everybody who claims to hear from God does.

That doesn't mean God doesn't still speak.

I see no problem if PM said it that way!

My problem is someone saying "God told me", especially in a political setting!

BTW, I have no problem whatsoever with PM!

I very much believe in the spiritual gifts! I do have some issues, but I'll leave that to another thread on another day!

The "God told me" issue is a pet peeve of mine! Can you tell?
