Acts 19:1-7

.
So why did Paul say he was sent not to baptize? Was he wrong? Or maybe it's a type of wording the emphasisizes a greate point.

I replied why Paul said that. His whole point was to not make disciples unto himself such as John the Baptist did. Everyone was saying they are of Paul, or Apollos, etc.. that is why Paul said that. John was sent primarily to baptize. Paul was sent to preach the gospel. The response to the gospel preached is baptism but Paul was not sent to baptize people, but to preach the gospel. It didn't matter who baptized them in that case.

Re: Isaiah 3 and jewelry...

weather we want to admit it or not the upci does have mans traditions, and certainly not biblical. some are even racial.

facial hair. not ok on a white guy preacher, its ok on a black guy preacher.
we cant condem woman who wear pants its not biblical. for all in all most of the standards we have are for seperation from the world. however these standards have created pharasees over time, and they set the bar of rightousness. and when you dont reach there level of expectations they label you. ( though this could happen in any church) I have seen it more from the Op Side of the House.

Yes! Arnold one of my favorite preachers. it would be nice if we had more preachers like that. Not afraid to say to a GC that God works outside the apostolic world with signs wonder and miracles. He always makes great points and cuts straight to the Point.

Holiness is a inward expression that workd outwardly. And Holiness comes from God's spirit.
many times over we try to judge a book by its cover. I have seen homless people who show Holiness and their rags.
Though i felt convicted about most of my jewlery i worn, i eventually took it off. all except the wedding ring and i have never felt convicted about that, i just have been reffered to as a pagen sometimes cause i wear it.
But Holiness comes from the Spirit in Us. Not necasserily in outward appearance all the time. but a attitude tword others!

Re: Isaiah 3 and jewelry...

Speaking of jewelry, my wife's birthday is this weekend (Oct 31st to be exact) and I am going to look at getting her a wedding band. After 6+ years she is sick of people asking her "So when is the wedding?" after they see her single engagement/wedding ring. Of course I'M never asked that question.....

Don't have to be too "creative" to comprehend "not with gold jewelry".....ya' just have to be able to read, which apparently requires quite a concerted effort on AFF!

"Strechy" indeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!!

Re: Isaiah 3 and jewelry...

Conversing won't do 1% of what prayer will do. If we prayed, studied, and conversied all together.. we might come to the same conclusion. This is similar to what early holiness people did such as those in Kansas around 1901 when Agnes Ozman was the first Bible student to receive the HG, speaking with other tongues as the initial evidence. What a revelation it was. How did it come? Studying and praying together. I doubt we will find this absent with early holiness people. These standards didn't come from the blue. If two people in two different religious organizations who never meant come to the same conclusion in prayer and study, that ought to shine a little light to the subject.
