Once saved always saved is actually quite a bit closer to what you believe than you might realize OSAS isn't a doctrine about getting Jesus and then doing what you want...

Maybe it's more for those who have family who once served God but have backslidden into sin. They want the assurance that their backslidden family member is saved even though they are not actively serving Christ.

But there are those who will tread all over the grace of the sinless One. They are called carnal Christians who serve the flesh rather than the Spirit.

OSAS isn't about giving hope for the family of a backslid family member either. In fact OSAS tends to say what we would call backslid may not have even been saved in the first place.

I'm not saying it is the only reason for OSAS but it is a reason that I'm sure some folks take false comfort in.

Maybe, but that idea isn't part of that doctrine.

Do you want consider the context of what was said or do you just want to grab a phrase and run with it?

Clearly, false teachers were infiltrating the church (worming their way into the church, NLT), with NO intention of helping and ONLY intending to hurt. And they used the teaching of grace AGAINST them by telling them that God's grace allowed them to do anything they wanted to do.

NO ONE here is saying that, my friend. So you must consider the context of what Jude said if you want to reference his statement. There is absolutely no implication in Jude 1:4 that a person, who has been taught grace, would say, "Hmmm.....since God forgives me, I'll just go be really bad."

Absolutely. Many who embrace "Eternal Security" believe that God will never walk away from you, but certainly, you could walk away from God.

I certainly believe that and I believe in Eternal Security.

That being said, there are many different factions within the Eternal Security section of theology.

There are some who believe you can do anything you want, some who believe if you leave God, you were never saved to begin with, but many who believe what I stated above.

Who said it did? I never even inferred that. My point is that, according to Jude, grace can become perverted in the minds of people and they relegate it to a bargaining card or a base act of the flesh.

And yes, I do know people who excuse their sinful lifestyle by saying they are "saved by grace" or "the grace of God covers them."

I have heard these accusations but haven't met too many people like this. I know plenty of people who reject extra-Biblical teaching and are accused of this.
