No altar call.
No preechin hell. I do see sharing a Redeemer.
I also know it is a painfull moment and when the tears dry, they may dobut what commitment they made under a moment of deep sorrow.

I guess in the final analysis without wasting precious electrons in the next few pages of this thread... it goes under the category of "Where the Spirit leads..."

Kinda like Stephen's funeral and preceding stoning was an influence on the conversion of Saul/paul.

Thats a silly analogy. Saul went out and persecuted Christians after that. It took the Lord meeting him on the road to turn him. Even then it came down to the grace of God drawing someone who was misguided but wanting righteousness.

Each funeral is held differently.
IF you knew Dr. Bauer.. I did it EXACTLY as he would have wanted it.
At my grandfathers funeral we forevermore had some church. Shouting, dancing, singing, praising...

That's the way it oughta be.

Re: Holy Ghost at a funeral? OF COURSE!!!

But, please, please, please no sermons about how if you're not "baptized in Jesus name, and filled with the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues, you're NOT SAVED and are bound for a devil's hell!!" A funeral is NOT the place for that, and is so disrespectful to people who have come to pay their respects.

I've even been to funerals where they go down the laundry list of sins that will send you to hell..... makeup, cut hair, pants, television. Sorry, that's just rude.

I completely agree.

It should be a celebration of the deseased's life, not a sermon to reach the lost attending the service.
