Re: Grammar!

I absolutely hate when someone adds an "s" to the end of a store's name!

For instance, our local grocery store chain is called H.E.B.

I have heard people say, "I'm going to H.E.Bs."

Are they saying, "I am going to H.E.B.'s meat department, etc.?"

OR

Are they saying they are going to every single H.E.B. store in the state of Texas?!!!!!

What is up with adding the "s" at the end?

"I'm going to Walmarts."

Really? You are going to all of them?!!!!!!!

Re: Grammar!

I don't know that things have changed, really. Some people are just hard-wired for spelling and grammar, and some aren't.

We homeschool and several of my children are great spellers. A couple of others can NOT spell, no matter how much we work on it. But, they're great in other areas.

I never had to study for a spelling test. I think I was born spelling. Grammar, of course, is learned, but much of that still comes more naturally to some people.

Wouldn't that be "subject"?

You know what I'm really bad about - commas!!! When I'm thinking and typing, if I pause in my thinking, I put in a comma, even if it doesn't belong there. I never catch it until it's too late!

I'm horrible about typing as if I am dyslexic and reversing letters!

I'm usually doing several things at once and not paying close attention to what I am writing.

Okay, just heard my guy in New York (Hoffman) lost, so I'm going to bed.

Talk at you later, Tamor! I have a busy, busy, busy month ahead!!
