I look at the recorded programs and at least 80% were guests and not political.

Are you seriously denying that James Dobson is a political activist?? Surely you jest. Look son, when he's telling us where to shop based how they greet us at the door, he's NOT sharing the gospel.
(anyone catch the "son" thing?)
And as far as the NT folks not talking about the government because they weren't asked........I'm not even sure what to say about that one. Wow. That may very well be the worst argument in the history of AFF.

Dr Dobson has 2 company groups. A political and for profit and a not for profit.
Quote:
As a 501(c)(3) corporation, Focus on the Family is not permitted to advocate any individual political candidate. However, in its radio broadcast, it often discusses political issues and current events, usually through a Christian conservative point of view. Dobson is among the Christian conservative leaders who met with and advised former President George W. Bush. Focus on the Family's magazine Citizen is exclusively devoted to politics. The FOTF also has an affiliated group, Focus on the Family Action (a.k.a. Focus Action), though the two groups are legally separate. As a 501(c)(4) social welfare group, Focus Action has fewer political lobbying restrictions. FoTF's revenue in 2005 was USD $142M, and that of FoTF Action was $14.7M.[8][9]
He writes books. They have bookstores and printing of newsletters. I don't ever recall him saying he was a Minister. He is a Psychologist. They offer counseling by phone and referrals.
Quote:
Focus on the Family broadcasts a national talk radio program of the same name hosted by Dobson or his aides. The program has a range of themes, such as Christian-oriented assistance for victims of rape or child abuse; parenting difficulties; child adoption; husband/wife roles; family history and traditions; struggles with gambling, pornography, alcohol, and drugs; and many other themes. When programs deal with civic issues, listeners often respond to these programs by contacting political leaders.
Actually you should be complaining about the government which is stepping into the church and trying to control activities that are NOT their business.

I just think that a lot of this stuff; who to boycott, where to shop, who to vote for, is overstepping. I don't like people telling me how to feel or react, just give me the information and let me do with it what I think is appropriate. The militant stuff rubs me the wrong way.

Dang. This is kinda like me saying, "Hey Coadie, what's the temperature outside?" and you say, "Tuesday at 2pm."
You're arguing with me about stuff I haven't even talked about. Good grief.

Yes, that IS not the problem tomorrow.

Weren't they, though. Boy, none of THEM ever tried to shut the church down, did they? (that's sarcasm in case some of you are about to quote Josephus at me)
From today's Christian culture, I'd say there's more effort turning people into Republicans than turning people into Followers of Christ.
(And I'm fairly conservative, Ferd, so please don't try to drown me)
