I have a Garrett GTA 550. Nice detector. It ran around $600 when I bought it. I've used it on the beach and solid land. Works well and I'll found some good stuff. No gold yet.

My oldest find to date is an 1875 Seated liberty dime.

Yes, it can tell you what coin you have detected and the approximate depth, with very accurately. It also lets you discriminate different metals such as iron and aluminum. You can even set it to only alert you for a particular coin such as a quarter or dime.

I enjoy getting out and hunting "treasure".
