Radical, in your face, gay agenda! Never have liked this gay/guy. I genuinely love people for their soul's sake, but I don't appreciate the "sin driven" agenda! IMO
Well said. There was a point several years ago that I watched AI. But then it became clear to me (long before Adam Lambert) that AI was clearly "Sin Agenda" driven.
AL simply reinforced what I already felt and why I had stopped watching.

Yea, and a guy (Kevin Casimer) that read the library science professor Bert Chapman's blog is trying to get him fired! Mike Adams wrote a satirical column calling for Kevin to be expelled.

From the beginning, I've never had a "problem", as in "I won't listen", with him being gay. If we "refuse to listen" to male musicians and/or singers, we'd have to walk out of a LOT of General Conferences and "Singspirations." Sorry, but we all know that's the truth.
But I certainly do refuse to watch/listen if he's going to shove his lifestyle in our face. And I also don't like it when we get "straight" sex stuff thrown in our face.
I went to an NBA game and I walked out on the halftime show. The "Warrior girls" were completely indecent. Look, I'm not "Mr. Super-Righteous" and have never made the claim. But I didn't go to an NBA to have that shoved in my face. And I didn't tune into the AMA awards to have that shoved in my face.
What's really sad is the focus of music is not music anymore.
Of course, so many things outside of the church is driven by sex since sex sells. You can't walk down the mall or drive down the highway without seeing something sexual shoved in your face.

Exactly! I have a friend whose husband was really hooked on pornography. They are seeing counseling and it's very extensive. He had to take a lie detector test or they wouldn't counsel with them. He agreed, because, at that point, he wasn't involved with anyone.
Anyway, one of the exercises he had to do and report on was to write down everything during the day that drew his eye in a sexual way - it included billboards he passed on the way to work, magazines at the store, etc.
The counselor told the guy that he wants him to see and be more aware of what is being placed before the men day in and day out. He had hopes the guy and others would rise up and help get some of this under control.
I remember a horrible billboard we would pass on the way to town. I prayed that God would cause a wind to come along and tear it off the board! Guess, what - it happened!!! They didn't replace it either! :thumb
I'll join the kudos for the public turnaround, N.O.W.
I haven't seen clips or watched the performance, but I've read enough reviews. My wife and I were talking about it last night, and really ... is anyone really that surprised? During AI he was always trying to up the ante and push the envelope, albeit within the constraints of the show. He was known to be "out" with pics of him with other men published on the web.
It really shouldn't have been a surprise what happened during his performance.
When Borat was released, and subsequently footage of a UPCI campmeeting was shown around the world as Borat duped a well-known evangelist into thinking he received the HG ... this message board was awash with posts about the discernment of this evangelist.
This is worse, IMO. I see a post stating that weekly church staff meetings were "Adam adoration sessions" and I wonder where the discernment is, much less common sense.
At least the evangelist in Borat could claim he was duped and didn't know anything about the man or what was happening.
In this case, everyone knew who Adam was and what he was. He didn't dupe anyone. His performance Sunday was exactly what he's been gearing for since appearing on AI.
His big quote is about being discriminated against. He feels that since it was "okay" for Madonna, Britney and Christina to kiss several years ago, that people should accept his kiss as the same. This was no "heat of the moment" thing. This was planned from the time he was selected to sing at the show.
In the [paraphrased] words of an ex-Arizona Cardinals Head Coach ... "he was who we thought he was." He did what we knew he would do.
For anyone who considered themselves a fan of him, especially christians and God-forbid church leaders/pastors, common sense and discernment is seriously lacking.
Again, great to have people see the light ... but really it was on the whole time, the problem was either blindness or refusal to acknowledge the light - both of which call into question common sense and discernment, and the lack thereof.
ABC's Good Morning America cancelled Adam's performance...citing the large volume of complaints received over his performance on ABC Sunday evening. Apparently they were afraid he'd do the same thing on their morning show.

If you can't figure out that we were "adoring" his talent, singing, and musical skills, then...............well, I don't even know what to say. I don't need spiritual discernment to see if I should like someone's music. Good grief.
I am completely repulsed by what Adam Lambert did on the awards show. That won't change. But I loved everything he did on American Idol and that won't change either.
Your insinuation that our church staff lacks "common sense" because we liked Adam Lambert on American Idol, is absurd.
Maybe you'd be happier if you put me on "Ignore."

I tend to disagree. I am amazed by the things you watch and listen to, and come on AFF and defend. I wonder what kind of lives the people you pastor live. Is it run of the mill American Carnal Christianity?
NOW, I know your a smart guy, but did you learn so much about grace and liberty that it turned into a license to sin?
