I somewhat agree here. I didn't see Gaga or Eminem, but I did see Jackson's opening performance - and she did do a crotch grab. However, you can't compare Gaga's whiskey bottles, Eminem's lyrics and Jackson's grab to his oral sex routine and homosexual kiss.

I'd agree again here. He's right about criticism being because it was a homosexual act (grabbing male dancer and thrusting crotch in face as though performing oral sex; kissing male keyboardist). I don't like and don't promote lewd performances, but I would rather keep it hetero than homo. I'd have less of an issue if he were a straight man kissing a woman or doing other things during his performance with a woman. Don't agree with it, wouldn't watch it, but it would be better.

Yah, okay. It is the parents responsibility to monitor their child and watch what they allow the children to view. True. But regardless, the performance was raunchy. It was disgusting. It was a punch in the face to the majority of americans who don't agree with the gay lifestyle. He wanted to make a statement, and he did it.

At least his fans can have something to look forward to.

To sum it up, he's playing the victim card. He's a gay performer who's been unfairly singled out, while he feels others (hetero) got a pass.
His latest performance as reviewed by Bill O'Reilly last night would have been received with rave reviews in Sodom. That was sick and I hope his singing career crashes and burns from the lack of interest, and I hope his name disappears from this forum. I will do my part by avoiding all future reading or posting on any such thread!!!!

What a freak show!!!!

Disgusting.

Yet I wonder, why any Christian would be watching such trash anyway. I guess quote Romans 14 and it's allright.

Wow. Jason, that's unfair. You're completely taking out of context what I said and misapplying it. I quoted Romans 14 in direct relation to watching American Idol. I DID NOT apply it to watching and approving of Adam Lambert's garbage that he did Sunday night.

That was an undeserved cheap shot.

No cheap shot. However, this is an issue that needs to be discussed, and your application of Romans 14 is commonly used by "christians" to suggest that they can do/watch/read/listen to anything they decide they can "handle."

I'm not cheap shoting you. I believe you to be an intellegent Christian. That said, I am completely baffled by your approval of such things (not necessarily the Awards show, but just getting caught up in the AI craze, even to the point of liking/rooting for an openly homosexual man).

Again I say, why could someone not say they can "handle" porn or horror flicks, and throw Romans 14 out there?

I'm still waiting for an answer to this question:

What makes your line okay, but my line legalism?

Because I'm not enforcing my ideals on others. Very simple.

I believe it to be a cheap shot. Let me explain: You're judging me because I like to watch American Idol. Evidently, it's something you don't care for. But I like it and I enjoy it. And I believe Romans 14 applies when there are things that you, as a Christian, don't care for while being aware that others may enjoy.

Comparing American Idol to porn is..........well, I'm not even sure what to say.

As far as our church staff meetings.....when we have our staff meetings, we gather in and talk. About anything. Sometimes it's the weather, sometimes it's about car trouble, sometimes it's our dogs, and during American Idol season, we would almost always talk about American Idol, our favorites, who we like, who we don't like, who got voted off, etc. Our staff really loved the performances of Adam Lambert. And we talked about it. I said earlier that our staff meetings were "Adam adoration sessions" and I'm assuming that most folks here are sharp enough to think that we sat there for two hours and foamed at the mouth over Adam.

So really, it's as simple as, we liked him. That's it. And if you or others think it's sinful for us to like the singing of Adam Lambert, then I'm not even sure how to argue with you.

Re: Adam Lambert

Not a fan of AI but have seen several news clips of the music awards. Whatever his orientation, totally inappropriate for TV awards show.

Legalism is a over used word.

Are you against all TV??
