At exactly two minutes after midnight on Jan. 1, 2000, an alarm sounded at a nuclear power plant in Onagawa, Japan. Government officials and computer scientists around the globe held their breath. Was this the beginning of a massive Y2K computer meltdown? Actually, no. It was an isolated event, one of a handful of glitches to occur (including the failure of 500 slot machines at two racetracks in Delaware) as the sun rose on the new decade. The dreaded millennial meltdown never happened.

Instead, it was the American Dream that was about to dim. Bookended by 9/11 at the start and a financial wipeout at the end, the first 10 years of this century will very likely go down as the most dispiriting and disillusioning decade Americans have lived through in the post–World War II era. We're still weeks away from the end of '09, but it's not too early to pass judgment. Call it the Decade from Hell, or the Reckoning, or the Decade of Broken Dreams, or the Lost Decade. Call it whatever you want — just give thanks that it is nearly over.

I truly believe the collective mind of Americans who have lived through this decade is forever altered by the events we've lived through.

The way we do church has changed.
The way we view government has changed.
The way we look at the future has changed.
Our concept of God has changed.
The way we use money has changed.

In fact, our entire worldview has changed.

America is more socialistic.
Organized religion is in a freefall.
Undefined spirituality is on the rise.

The biography of Pentecostalism has been written and placed in the "History" section of Christian literature.

What was Oneness Pentecostalism in the twentieth century, has now been redefined as "Apostolic Doctrine."

In the past decade, all major organizations within the movement have stagnated, mirroring the political and economic conditions of the times.

I am afraid that this could just be th beginning of what could arguably be called the End of Times.

Not sure I can join in the Chicken Little Boys Choir but I will say this much - orgs like the UPCI can't account for the discipling of its children, much less its grandchildren in the last 10 to 20 years here in North America.

On the positive side, many within the OP movement are moving away from the traditions and doctrines of men.

Once we have been into the next decade for a while we will think of this decade as "the good old days".

Actually, the current decade doesn't end until January 1, 2011. Decades go from a year starting with a year ending with a 1 and then ending in 0. The "1970s" would refer to 1971 through 1980, and so on.

Actually 11:59:59 then the next click the decade has passed on December 31st 2010
