PC to TV, Help.
Has anyone connected their pc or laptop to a tv?
I have a vga cable that I connected from my laptop to the rgb input on my tv, but my tv says "no signal".
What do I have to do to my laptop in order to get a signal to my tv? anyone have any experience? thanks.

We just did this in a hotel. I have an hdmi connection on my laptop, so I used an hdmi cable. To get it to work, I had to turn the laptop off, then hook up the cable to both the laptop and the tv. Then turn the laptop on. Then tune the tv to the correct channel to receive the signal.
I couldn't figure it out until I put 'computer to television' in my laptop's "help" search box. It told me how to do it.
If you don't have hdmi, I think it's an s-video cable that you use. You'll need s-video on both the tv and the computer.

My husband does it all the time with an hdmi cable--it just carries a video signal, and then you have to use external speakers connected to the laptop or headphones to get the sound. (The sound still comes out of the laptop.)

Re: PC to TV, Help.
well I checked the help section under "install additional monitor" and I've got my desktop display on my tv but I can't get anything else. Can anyone please walk me through this? acer wants to charge me $59.00 for a 30 minute session.

What do you mean you have your desktop display on, but nothing else? If you open up something else on your computer, it doesn't show up on the screen?
Did you turn on the computer after everything was already hooked up?

I have this ability from my laptop by using a HDMI cable as others have suggested. My systems works great for both video and sound! We like to watch church services and listen to choirs from all over the country right from our TV!

How do you get the sound to come from the tv? I couldn't figure that part out.
