However, it appears that we are not talking about a slip of judgment. We are not talking about a 1 night stand when passions just got too much to bear. It appears that we are talking about a double lifestyle. It appears that we are not talking about an addiction, but a chosen lifestyle. One can choose to be faithful or one can choose not to be faithful.
As a Sr. Pastor, I have had more than one woman "hit" on me over the years and it was obvious what they were after. I have tried my best to kindly and respectfully not return those misplaced expectations. I have chosen to be faithful to my lovely wife. For that, the congregation I lead, appreciates that in me, as they should. If it ever came to light that I was leading a double life and had another woman/women on the side, they would be devastated, and I can understand that. I believe that most folks root for the good guy to win. I have believed Tiger to be a good guy. I have admired his "family" manner and "rooted" for his success. However, I, along with the rest of the world, have been scammed. We were seeing something that did not exist, it appears. It offends me and disappoints me. However, I will not pray for Tigers' demise. He, along with King David, have committed a terrible indiscretion that has affected multitudes who also were rooting for the good guy. If the fame of his repentance exceeds the fame of his fall, he can be restored. I pray for that restoration.
Do I feel sorry for him? Yes and no. The "YES" part of me states that it is sad that anyone's family has to go through this. The "NO" part of me states that if he didn't want these consequences he should have made different choices. For the life of me, I can't imagine how public figures like him, whose faces are planted all over the world think that they can get away without anyone saying anything etc. After all, what woman wouldn't eventually say, "Hey, you'll never guess who I slept with?"
I am glad that he is focusing on his family. I hope and pray that it works. It may be too late for that...I hope not. God's forgiveness is available to him and to all.
However, as a wise man once said, "If you can't do the "time" don't commit the "crime." Sorry Tiger, I'm in your corner, but don't expect me to say that it's OK and you just stubbed your toe here. You should have known better. You should have appreciated the blessings you have been given more. You should have cherished your lovely wife and children more than your base fleshly nature. Is it difficult to stay faithful? Not as difficult as it is to achieve the level of success in golf that you have. You REALLY do know how to overcome difficult situations. Bad form, Tiger. Bad form.
