Action without belief is meaningless -
Hebrews 11:6.
Put your faith in the One you serve and not in the works you do -
Acts 15:11;
Ephesians 2:5-22 (we are
His workmanship!).
2 Timothy 1:19 - He called us because of His grace and specifically
NOT because of our works.
Titus 3:5 - "
NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAVE DONE, BUT ACCORDING TO HIS MERCY HE SAVED US... !!!"
AGAIN - How does baptism save us?
Not by having us get into the water - that's for certain, because Peter says that's for certain! "(
not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,)" - - -
Even in the very act of baptism itself,
we are saved by something that only Jesus Christ can do - "
by the resurrection of Jesus Christ..."
1 Peter 3:21
Don't take Jesus out of baptism. Don't take pride in the manner in which you conduct the baptism rite. Don't condemn others who baptize differently.
Just because you say the phonetic syllables "Gee-zus" when you baptize doesn't mean He has anything to do with your ceremony. Practice that last prepositional phrase from
1 Peter 3:21 when you practice Peter's words from
Acts 2:38.
Jesus saves! Not you. Not your pastor. Not your denomination. Not the traditions of your grandparents.
Jesus saves. Jesus only.
