Do the Jews Tithe Today Like they did in the OT.

I "feel for" for the poor more than anybody. Under the old law they were atleast in part, on the receivin end. Now that we look into the perfect law of liberty they gotta pay up the bare minimum, no matter what?

No sincere Christian is agains't giving,I love to give,all we are calling for is for the word of God to be rightly divided.If we teach something then we had better teach it to the letter,and back up what we preach by the word of God.

This is no game,nobody wants to teach error and mislead people.

I love vows. If God has laid it on your heart to give 10%, make that vow for the year. If God laid it on your heart to give 20%, make that vow for the year. If you can't afford a set percentage, but maybe just $20 a week would be a sacrifice, make that vow for the year.

But know this... vows are spiritually binding:

Deuteronomy 23:21
When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

There's also a promise...

Psalm 50:14-15
14Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
15And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Vowing is a very powerful method of giving that doesn't violate the NT, because Paul wrote,

2 Corinthians 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Let God inspire you as to how much to vow unto the work of the Lord. But beware, if you slack to pay it will be SIN unto you. But if you pay it, you can call on God in the day of your trouble, and He PROMISES to deliver you. Then you will glorify the LORD of Hosts.

Yes it is always good to giove. And yes, you will be blessed if you give. And yes, you will reap as you sow.

HOwever, isn't there a big difference between giving because you are able to give and want to bless your church, and the theologically based extortion being pushed form pulpits?

Give 10% or you will a)go to hell b) not be allowed to be used in the church c) be looked down upon and likely have finiancial help withheld form you in time of need.

Thats not giving.

A lot of churches won't even help tithers in their time of need. You'll hear, "Well the Lord has bills too."
