Re: I may never eat a crawdad

I have eaten all kinds of things. Crawfish are good but I would rather have lobster any day.

I went to this festival a couple years ago... they weren't anything to write home about.

I love all seafood. But nothing beats high-quality raw fish.

I saw on the menu they have catfish. I never ate catfish before. Thinking of trying it
When I first came down out of the hills to the Missouri/Mississippi River region someone announced they were going to have a "catfish dinner." I had eaten catfish before; wasn't a big fan but wasn't grossed out either.

When they slid a catfish steak onto my plate I was confused, to say the least. All the fried catfish I had ever seen looked like something like a fish - in it's general outline. I was expecting a "whole" cleaned and fried catfish about 10" - 12" long, or so. Instead I got a slab of catfish meat bigger than any catfish I had ever caught.

Took me a while of considering before I realized that catfish grow A LOT bigger in larger bodies of water. Then I sort of laughed at myself. Didn't like the fish too much, but wasn't grossed out too much either.

For a while it seemed, every time some out of town politician or foreign dignitary came to town the local papers had to have a picture of the out-of-towners being force-fed "oysters."

No wonder they didn't hold the Olympics here.
