Global Network of Christian Ministries

Anybody here a member of Global Network of Christian Ministries (GNCM)?

I used to have a file of the churches that were in that group but I can't find it right now. Well, if I did find it, it would be a few years old and out of date.

I was wondering how active the group is. A couple of years ago I mentioned the group to a minister in Texas who was in the UPC. He tried to contact them but got no response and gave up.

A few months ago a young UPC minister told some of us that he was not going to renew with the UPC. Recently he told me that he is now licensed with GNCM. He said that his yearly fees with the UPC were $1000 a year.

Here is a link to their website. Scott Jones is the Chairman now.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Sorry, I meant to include a link.
Thanks for posting it.

I was surprised to see someone from Hamilton, OH on the list of At Large Board Members. I live quite close to Hamilton, OH. Actually, I go to a church in Hamilton which is 9.5 miles from my house.

I have a license with them because I need one. But I don't participate. I think the yearly money is around $125.

I have ordination with an organization because it gives me legal status in Ohio so I maintain it and send them 10 percent of my tithe and an offering each month plus the yearly renewal. In Ohio, I had to furnish a copy of my license or ordination to the Secretary of State in order to be authorized to solemnize marriages. Actually, in Ohio, a local church can license/ordain ministers and the state recognizes that so I could probably drop my affiliation with the organization and get a certificate through my local church if I wanted to. I've never done any weddings but my fellowship card has given me access for visitation in a hospital.

Re: Global Network of Christian Ministries

For UPC ministers looking for a liberal alternative to the UPC GNCM is not really it. It has strictly been a ministerial organization. I will bet you that the vast majority of churches with Global pastors probably don't know anything about it unless a conference has been held at their church. Very low key and low profile for many years. I have heard it is going to be more active and organized under Chairman Jones which will be good.

Yes, Jones is bringing people together and forming a more collective voice. Great fellowship, great people of many different Pentecostal/Charismatic stripes.

I dont see how that can work or what purpose it would serve. If they do not have common belief whats the point? Could they not fellowship together (if they desired) without becoming an org?

Yeah, but then people would just show up and there'd be a lot of gabbing going on before anything really got started. Also, the people who were told to bring a salad might change their mind and bring a dessert instead and then there'd be way too many of those fruit-cocktail-with-marshmallows-and-whipped-cream dishes and not enough greens and carrots. I really like those little baby carrot sticks if there's a good fresh ranch or blue cheese dip.

Better to have an org. Just so everybody's clear about stuff.
