The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost. You can't receive the Holy Ghost unless you believe. If you don't have faith, you can't believe. I don't believe anyone can truly know what real love is without the Holy Ghost. I know that I didn't.

We use love too loosely. "I love tacos", etc.

I'm not sure I agree with you. I think all people are created with the ability to love (or hate). Are you of the opinion that people who don't know God don't really love their children or spouse?

I just know that I had no idea the depth of real love until I received the Holy Ghost. Perhaps that is just an experience that is mine alone.

I vote the ten most important scriptural principles are...
LOVE GOD:
Be Oneness
Avoid Idolatry
Reverence the name of Jesus
Be faithful to worship and devotions

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR:
Love and protect the family
Be an advocate for life
Be sexually moral
Never take that which isn't your own
Be honest
Be thankful for what you have

And... forgive as you've been forgiven

I think one good method of determing the most important principles are to look for the ones that can be found in the gospels, in acts, and in the epistles. The next most important ones are the ones found in 2 of 3 of these places and so on.

The principles of Christian living aren't about doctrine so I think oneness can be striken from the list. Also, I think there are many other things spoken of much more often than many of the other things you listed.

Now maybe it's that the most important things aren't spoken of all that often because they are so obvious. This could be an argument.

I think my top 10 are... (in no particular order)

forgiveness
faith
hope
charity

I'm actually struggling getting any more than these 4 at the moment
