Does Anyone Leave This World Perfect?

Doing a funeral tomorrow for a suicide victim.

Have a question or two for your consideration.

1) Why do some people automatically conclude that someone that commits suicide is "going to hell?"
2) Does God look at all sin the same?
3) What if a Christian dies and has been guilty of a sin of omission? Does he/she automatically go to hell?
4) When does our Advocate with the Father kick in? (Crude way to put it, but I think you understand!)
4) Finally, does anyone leave this world as a "perfect individual?"

Please, I'm not promoting any particular idea. I have mine. Just wanted to see what yours was! Okay!

the traditional response would be something like everyone else has a chance to repent or ask forgiveness but since suicide is a sin and doesn't give one time to repent or ask forgiveness then the person could not have obtained it.

What if one dies today and in the last hours had commited a sin of omission? Would he go to hell?

??? Do you believe in the "Traditional Response"? Let me expose myself...NO, let me expose my hand. I don't believe this. I believe we have an Advocate with the Father. What is He doing? How does He help us?

If we are held accountable for "every sin," even those that we may not know we have committed, then to make it to Heaven we have to be perfect! He is our perfection!

I agree with you..... but.......

I think some would say that a person who commits suicide had lost their faith, and without faith we can't be saved. Would you agree?

(my personal opinion is that it just depends..... there are a lot of extenuating circumstances that surround suicides, I don't think you can make a blanket statement about them)

I think the key is "It just depends!" This is one of those situations that we should, by all means, leave in the hands of a just God. I remember several years ago a UPC missionary coming home from years on the field and in a state of depression, took his own life. There were those who wanted to jump on the "Hell Bound Bandwagon" immediately. Others felt different. I guess my point is that anyone who has had a family member do this sure doesn't need us "religious folks" to begin to make it more difficult.

Tomorrow I will encourage the wife to put her trust in a merciful God, knowing that her husband was baptized in 2008 and only he and God know all the circumstances. I, nor anyone else can make a fair judgement.

I guess my main point is if an individual had committed a "little sin," (you know how many sins the "righteous" have on their list) and suddenly died would he/she go to hell? (Please forgive the seemingly sarcasm in "righteous.") Don't mean it to be offensive.

Everyone believes we have an advocate with the Father...

As far as whether I believe in the traditional response, I'm not sure. I wouldn't commit either way.

I do believe in general that one failure does not make one a failure. I believe that one sin does not make one a sinner. I believe that one lie does not make one a liar...

When I read in revelations about who are outside new Jerusalem I don't recall it saying those who lied once or did this or that once, it says liars and adulterers and... It characterizes these people by their lifestyles and not by a single action.

If they would, then what's the point of being covered by Jesus' blood?
