Re: Would You Put Timmy On Your Church Board?
NoW, Timmy would like to counter... $60,000/yr, all room and board paid (CA is expensive, you know), vehicle, and health insurance...
Ev.Benincasa would like his name spelled correctly on any flyers and at least enough to cover his expenses getting to and from your area and room and board while there. A nice fruit basket in his suite at the Marriott would be nice, too. A big one.
edit: oops, forgot to add that detail of the private jet...

Marriot? Try "Sabu the Elephant Boy Motel." Fruit basket? Wrong, the Erwin McManus devotee, would have the front desk manager, Abdul-Ghafoor, to make sure we have extra roach and rat traps. Also, we may be so fortunate to have 100 year old Hindi maid turn over the soiled pillows, before we check in. All, in all, he has already informed me that we will be starved out before we come in. So, having my name spelled correctly would be the least of my wife and children's worries.
Erwin McManus! Right On!

Re: Would You Put Timmy On Your Church Board?
I wonder how far NoW's church is from Church on the Rock? You could preach Sunday School for NoW and then head to Bro CM Young's for Sunday night-they'd treat you well. And you wouldn't even need an agent to negotiate hotel stay.

Maybe Timmy could be a shoe shiner or head bobber?

Happy for you. But I'm disappointed you couldn't get the Evangelist to sign on.

I have only read the first page of this thread but let me see if I understand you correctly. You don't know Timmy well enough to let him speak at your church but you would put him on your church board?
Between this thread and the one where you detail how you throw together your sermons Sunday mornings I am thankful I don't go to your church!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

There are various roles that various churches ask a "Board" to fill. In ours, it's about the financial operations of the church, budget, employment, IRS compliance, etc. I would welcome Timmy's expertise in that area.
Speaking to the church and offering spiritual enrichment? That wouldn't something he would do and I don't think he would want to.
But if you're serious about me "throwing together sermons", that seriously hurts and I can honestly say that I've never been actually "hurt" by anything someone has said to me here (and I've been name-called to death).
I hope you don't mean that and are attempting to be funny. If you're serious......well, that would hurt.
