Obviously we'll disagree on this. I don't see it as first this, then this, then this. I've seen people get the HG without first being baptized. That really throws your steps off!
I agree and I have seen people receive the HG before baptism. And yes, that means that they did believe and would have to have repented. Yet still, the Bible says you receive remission (forgiveness) after you repent and are baptized. You can't get around that one either. It's in the Word.

In a word - acknowledgment. That is key.

Repentance is acknowledgement??

Point of faith/repentance ... true faith goes hand in hand with true repentance .... different sides of the same coin.

Acknowledging that we have sinned and confessing those sins. Acknowledging that our sins are our own and no one else is to blame. It's the right thing to do.

I might be the only one, but I love your post and totally agree. I LOVE the story of the woman caught in adultery.

"Neither do I condemn you."

For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world....."

"There is therefore now no condemnation......"

Wow!!!

But the meaning of the word "repentance" is "To Turn". I don't see it having anything to do with acknowledgement and/or confessing.

How do you turn if you don't acknowledge that you need to turn or acknowledge the reason why you need to turn?

Well, I'll let you figure that out, but I'm just suggesting that you stick to defining "Repentance" to its actual definition.

I am very well aware what "repentance" means - to think differently or afterwards, that is, reconsider (morally to feel compunction).

I'm not going to think differently, reconsider my plight, feel any moral compunction if I'm not aware or acknowledge that I need to.

Ok, that's fine. But you said "Acknowledgement" so I wanted to make sure.
