Has anybody been to any recent TheCall rallies? I know there was one in Houston in January, and there is one coming up in Sacramento. I also know that there is a 40-day Daniel Fast happening right now for students on college campuses all over the nation (March 1 thru April 9).

I'm curious about what takes place at the conferences, and also about the theology behind Lou Engle, TheCall, the International House of Prayer (IHOP), etc. Although I was raised Oneness Pentecostal (UPC), I have very little knowledge of or experience with charismatic or "Third Wave" Pentecostalism.

Some people connect IHOP with the Latter Rain movement of the '50s, but IHOP has officially denied any previous ties with the LRM. Some of the IHOP doctrines I'm curious about are: (1) the manifest sons of God theology, (2) Joel's army, (3) the Tabernacle of David, etc. See this link.

Please enlighten me! I want to know more!

For a good backgrounder read the sections titled "We Deny" under each of the headings. In just about each case the "Kansas City Prophets" group, of which Lou Engle was a key player, at least appeared to stray in the areas that they have now set up boundaries around.

As far as the "Latter Rain" involvement, Lou Engle worked very closely with Paul Cain who was a part of William Branham's Voice of Healing org. Cain admitted to "weaknesses" in the areas of homosexuality and alcoholism and stepped down for a time a few years back before being "restored."

The core Kansas City group doesn't appear to accept that Cain has been completely restored.

They appear to be a fervent group which learns and grows. I don't think you could ask much more from folks.
