Well, No Pride Left Tonight
We broke in the new sanctuary tonight for sure - no distinguished, high class, stiltedness in our new place, thank the Lord!! We had an Encounter Service tonight, which we have the first Wed. of each month. Tonight, there was such freedom in the service - lots of people dancing, etc.
But we started singing that song, "I Am Free to Run; I Am Free to Dance", which we've done a gazillion times before. Tonight, when we started it, about 50 people spontaneously took off running around the building. They've NEVER done that before - maybe one person once in a great while, but never a bunch like that. The very cool thing was that it wasn't a bunch of people who were raised like us - they were mostly Church of Christ, Methodist, etc. They had never even seen anyone run in church before!!! It was just a freedom that they didn't know what to do with, so they took off. It was really awesome!
Sometimes when you move in a new auditorium, it takes a while for the people to feel comfortable worshipping - we've been through that before. I'm glad we broke through that thing tonight!! Praise God!

I can't wait to see your new place. Next time I am going to be passing through Jackson I am going to try and make enough time to call you guys and see if I can go see the building.

They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

Feel free to take a lap around the building. I know how you love that. I would have liked to tonight, but I knew I would get halfway around and have to take a rest.

Happened one year at Gen Conf.... Louisville, Ky. A guy from Louisiana, that loved to run, took off around the upper level of the Convention Center. He failed to consider how far around it was. When he got back his tongue was hanging out, he was gasping for breath. And the best I remember the service had changed by the time he got back. Oh well! He made memories!

Re: Well, No Pride Left Tonight
Just for the record - I don't think I've ever run at church. I love to dance, but running isn't my thing. Unless the Lord tells me to, I guess. He'll have to say it real loud!!
