Sam,
Even though this is a part of our history, this was in poor taste as it's not representative of the AMC group.
The AMC group were rocking the styles - they looked very nice and up to date. I knew many of them and talked to them.

See - - my blood wasn't boiling. If you knew me, you'd know that.
Honestly, I wish I'd ordered the strawberry pie instead - the cake was dry on the hot fudge cake and besides my mom made a much better one. However, I assure you that I would love to share whichever one with you and your honey!

Rev, I get your point, but I still don't think it applies to a general gathering. Paul gave us guidelines for operating in a church assembly. If someone is in our church, thumbing their nose at God and living in open sin, we are to take action on that.
In a general gathering, we have no authority over who participates.
Do you ever go to a gospel concert? Have you heard how some of those people live behind the scenes? The insider stories will make your hair curl, and yet we continue to buy the cds, listen to the music, sing their music, and go to their concerts.
God gave us jurisdiction in some areas, not in others. If you wouldn't feel comfortable attending, or think that by attending you would be indicating approval, or violating scripture, that's fine. Just know that not everyone will see it that way. Just because they were there doesn't mean that they approve of every lifestyle.

If the person was living a Ungodly Lifestyle would you sit and listen to them sing about the love of God on platform or stage in any venue???

Very true and that is what gets so old about this argument. It would be a very small world if you only surrounded yourself with people just like you.

Do you know for a fact that everyone in your church choir that sings each Sunday has no sin in their lives?

That is no excuse for accepting a open sinful lifestyle is it??
There is no way of knowing what is in a person's heart or life that's between them and God... but a person living in open sinful lifestyle that knows how to live right before God... does that make it acceptable to you to be able to fellowship with them or listen to them sing about the Glory of God??

Re: JCM Reunion / AMC Conference Check In Thread
While I do not agree with the lifestyle that is being discussed...How do we really know what lifestyle others live that we listen to?
We must remember it was not a church service it was a school reunion. I personally studied with people that became many things in life...One is in prison for killing his wife. Sometimes our own brothers and sisters turn out WRONG however they will always be our brothers and sisters.
We can be kind to anyone...I will have a test tonight and will have to prove it!

My husband recently drug me to a Gaither Homecoming. I personally know some people behind the scenes on these things, and some of the stories about the music industry in general are extremely disheartening. Others, though, are totally sincere in their walk with God, and are good, upright Christians.
I went to the concert, liked what I liked, and disliked what I disliked. It was a concert. I focused on the words of the songs. I didn't go to worship the people. Many of the songs we sing in church were written by sinful people, people who were willfully sinning.
The person I assume we're talking about at the reunion..... I honestly haven't kept up with the story much. I've heard some of the rumors, but really haven't followed it. If it was someone that I really knew, and knew that they absolutely were living in sin and flaunting it... I might step out in the hall to visit if it was something that really, really bothered me. But I wouldn't consider it necessary to do so, biblically.
