That's what I meant about his "schtick." Most of the stuff he says on the radio is in the context of his "know-it-all" persona and are thrown out there with intended irony and humor. He also plays up this "foreboding" thing when he lowers the register of his voice and says stuff like that.

The fact that all oil platforms are being searched is prudent. If nothing else is found then the only truth of what happened is about 5,000 feet beneath the waves.

Re: Oil Spill in the Gulf

I was being TIC about the sabotage. I would certainly hope that people haven't gotten that crazy about their views. I do think that the timing is interesting though, and I do think that if this spill wreaks the havoc that it seems may be possible, it will have an impact on the drilling debate.
I am curious about how new the platform is. One of the best arguments that I've heard from the proponents of drilling is that most spills and environmental issues occur during shipping and not from the platforms anyway.
For the record, I think it is irresponsible for us to not explore our own resources since we're so dependent on oil. I just think that this may stregnthen the argument against it.

Re: Oil Spill in the Gulf

I have wondered about sabotage, especially with the news of BHO sending SWAT teams to the other rigs in the region ... combined with the timing of the explosion.

Earth Day

President BHO just announced that these types of rigs don't generally cause oil spills; that the problems with oil in New Orleans was done by refineries on land, the rigs in the gulf didn't spill any oil

And BHO's recent announcement that he would open some offshore drilling.

Not saying it was, but I wouldn't put anything past some of these environmentalist idiots. One group, ELF (Earth Liberation Front) set fire to a resort in CO ($12mil damages) and burned it down ... so there is reason to wonder if they or another group was behind it.

But, would the environmentalist idiots endanger all the "fishes in the deep blue sea?"

Not if it was truly about the environment but since environmentalism is the new "red" it doesn't matter WHAT damage they do as long as it brings about their own socialism agenda.

I would hope not. But they set fire to a skiing resort in Vail and endangered the creatures of the forest there.

Re: Oil Spill in the Gulf

This is the second BP rig that had problems. They appear to either not care or have fundamental issues with their design. As I recall their "thunder horse" rig nearly sank not too long ago. Problems with ballast tanks or some such.

Cross that with the BP explosion in Houston and the BP-managed rupture in the Alaska Pipeline (yeah they run that too) in 2004? 2005? and BP is starting to look like they can personally do more damage to our oil industry here than any group of raggedy eco-extremists could ever do.

Maybe they should skip the short boat rides and send the troops and SWAT teams directly to London. Just sayin
