God's Name in Vain

Another way I've heard taking God's name in vain described is saying "God said" when He didn't.

I hate to hear God's name in vain. Sometimes it seem like people just sorta scream out Jesus when they are a little startled or irritated about what someone is doing. I have heard many Christians do this. It does bother me. My mother was really strict with us about this. I remember an old song that I heard sung as a "special" back when I was really young. "He is more than just a swear word, more that just an I don't care word, how can we use his Name so carelessly. Our only hope is in that one word, whosoever will, may come word. He is more that just a swear word. He's the precious son of God."

It is crazy how often I think of this song and it has been over thirty years since I have heard it. It just comes to mind when I hear the actual name Jesus used in this way.
