I think it was pretty neat that we were involved in hosting this conference.

I got to see a number of people last evening who I haven't seen in years. I really enjoyed talking with Sis. Foster and Sis. Dillon (she's a sweetheart) and some other local pastors who I had never met before as well as a few who are pastoring here in B.C. but who I know from back East.

Mark Foster preached great - hard and fast as usual - but with lots of good content. He was the forerunner in last night's service because Bro. Dillon preached next and wow! I enjoyed him so much!! I wish he could have preached another hour!
My dad was Sis Dillon's pastor. Bro Dillon met her when he came to preach us a revival.

I was just a kid lighting the candles in those days.

I could tell some pretty funny stories about that revival, but I better not.

Me, too...I have met a few of the fine folks from the different forum incarnations, and TB and Felicity certainly top the list of those I would like to meet this side of glory.

I don't mean to be critical - cause I love demonstrative worship and response - but really, they needed to take a pill.

LOL!! I know what y'all mean...I was 24 years in the COOLJC, so demonstrative worship is certainly something I am used to and frankly miss now.

However, shockamoo and noise are too different things, IMHO...

Finally I have a few minutes to share my thoughts about the UPC conference held at Peoples Church the last few days. I want to say right up front that it was a timely convergence of the need for the UPC to have a suitable facility for this conference with Bro. Mark Foster and Bro. Dillon and the need for spiritual guidance on our part. I am convinced that this was not happenstance, but ordered of God for our benefit. Felicity and I both rejoice concerning confirmation received on direction related issues in our lives.

I felt right at home in these services and enjoyed immensely the preaching of both Bro. Foster (the appetizer), and Bro. Dillon (the entre). My soul was hungry for what was served and my spiritual appetite sufficiently sufficed. I also enjoyed the worship.

I am always amazed at how God can set up His divine appointments in the most unpredictable manner. It had been so long since I had attended a UPC function and I did not know what to expect. I was overwhelmed by the warm reception we received from everyone. After 10 years of being away from the UPC, it was nice to actually feel so comfortable in one of their services.

I have concluded that God is definitely still speaking to the UPC constituency. However, it seems that in order to do so He has to scream at them.

Is this what the Bible refers to when it speaks of those who are dull of hearing? I honestly believe I could have heard what God had to say at about 30 decibels less volume!

Both Bro. Dillon and Bro. Foster have invited us to attend their conferences in August, so who knows, we just might do that! We certainly felt a connection has been made between us.

I am surprised a man of your stature and intelligence has not figured out the direct correlation between decibels in preaching and the annointing.

Also between an audiences raucus immediate response to a sermon vs. results from a sermon. If you don't have the congregation whoopin and a wailing you just arent annointed or getting the job done.

I know because I have sat in many a UPC church and heard a preacher spend a good portion of his sermon time saying "you're not getting this!" and other similar fretting since only a portion of the congregation were on the feet hollaring, screaming, waving hankies, and otherwise giving him affirmation.

Elder, I am thrilled beyond what these few words can express for what God is doing for you, your family, and your church.

Some may see your heartfelt gratitude for God's blessing as a 'sign' you may return to the 'Mother Ship', and who knows?! But regardless of that, the most important thing to thank God for here is the direction you received and the hunger that was satisfied.

No matter what you do, my sincere prayers are with you both...

A side note: you mentioned "divine appointments" and have no idea that the title of the book I am working on is 'Recognizing God's Divine Arrangements' and one of the chapters is 'Divine Appointments'.

That isn't relevant to anything, but I thought it interesting...
