we can turn that around and say there are those that go churches were they DO get it but are not ANY expression whatsoever. the "learned behavoir in this case is quiet sophistication. Is pride also a learned behavior? I believe there is form of GOOD learned behavior

then we could agrue about learned good behavior-

I do agree that some are too prideful to let the holy ghost have their way.

but we should be that way all the time, and just put it in auto pilot and do what we have always done.

Zeal takes many directions, Thad, and shockamoo is not always indicative of zeal after God or because we are "getting it."

I think Jeaniegirl hit on something good here...learned behavior is not always anointed response...JMHO...

I am reminded of a story I recently heard.

A minister was going to pray for a backslidden evangelist who just recently gave his heart back to God.

When the minister started to pray the man started to jerk and heive- and minister stopped the man and said--"quit it, that is a learned behavior" he stopped jerking and looked at the minister and said "you know what, you are right"

no it's not but how are we going to control an atmosphere like a pentecostal worship service. how are we going to point out who is of God and who is not? who should stop and who can continue ?

many tend to get into Judging who is worthy, whose worship is of God , who is just being emotional, etc. I think we should let God Sort that out.

and yes Jeanie, there is a time to sit down, shut up and learn the word but you and i both know that many pastors would give their right arm to have some zealous onfire new converts who don't care what the world thinks about the radical praise they render as opposed to some old sour saints who have not moved out in worship since the 50s

Thad,
Just because were are saying some our behavior in church is "learned" it does not take away from the genuine--I am not putting down demonstrative worship.

As long as the new converts are living right, truly repentant and leading changed lives.
