As Barb and Jeannie have tried to point out to you it is not mockery to make an observation or constructive criticism.

You tend to take anything critical to the extreme.

My only hope is that there are some people out there (especially preachers) who have maybe been so immeresed in the old time Pentecostal culture they have never really thought about these things and my posts might spark some introspection.

Some preaches would do well to learn to preach for results and not so much an immediate response. I have sat in services where the preacher was so concerned about getting a reaction out of the crowd he got sidetracked into cheerleading at the expense of a coherent sermon that could help folks.

Why don't you ask TB if he could sign the affirmation statement in good faith?

I think the AS effectively keeps some people out of the UPC who otherwise might be there. Some people are too honest to sign something they don't believe or are not going to abide by despite urging from some to do so.
