Amen. And ironically ,many who espouse so-called "holiness" as clothing actually do it with an offensive manner purposely, thereby violating that ethic posted by the writer of Hebrews. There are many ways to say something. Good way and offensive way. Why do such folks usually choose the offensive way?

I absolutely agree with this. I didn't realize that I came across that way until AFTER the fact. Now with that being said, I don't believe everyone is offensive, that is a broad brush stroking statement, but the majority are...

I've always wondered about that, too. It's like, if you think you are standing up for "the truth", it's okay to be rude about it. What happened to charity?

I apologize if I made any rude statements. This was not my intention at all. I merely stated my beliefs strongly, which was no different than what John the Baptist did when he said, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Jesus also called the scribes and Pharisees hypocrites. Would that be considered rude? I do want to be kind and considerate, but I also want to stand up for what I believe. However, I refuse to result to character attacks. That is beneath any Christian. I have discovered that a lot of people on this website were mistreated by ultra cons. I apologize for them. No Christian should ever speak evil of a brother or sister. Speak what you believe, but don't attack the person. God bless all of you.

Not you. I don't think you were rude at all. But many are. Which bothers me. No matter what our beliefs are, I think we should still show charity to those who differ from us. We might attack the belief in fairly strong terms, but I don't think we should attack the person.

First of all, he's Jesus, and none of us are. But, secondly, the religious of that day spent a lot of time condemning others. "Thank God I am not as this poor publican." That seemed to annoy Jesus.

I also wanted to add that I'm very happy when people like you come along.... people that I don't agree with, but who are able to have a productive discussion without resorting to name-calling and put-downs. It'd get really boring around here if we all agreed. I think it's wonderful to have more conservative people come in and discuss their viewpoints.

It's just frustrating when they take their toys and go home, because people disagree with them. It's a discussion, give-and-take, we're not all supposed to agree.

I also agree with this statement. There are exceptions though. Such as the following example:

Acts 13:8-10 (New International Version)
8But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. 9Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, 10"You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?

We must be careful with our words when speaking to a brother or sister in Christ, but when we run across an individual that is directly opposing everything that we stand for, then we do possess the right to respond in this fashion. Paul was a praying man, so we shouldn't do this unless we're prayed up and sure of our spirit.
