You are absolutely correct, Mama A.

Divorce, marital infidelity, teen pregnancy and all of the other social "indicators" of "sin" appear with the same frequency within "ultra-con" circles as they do with the rest of society.

This does beg the question, however; why don't the "dress codes" and other standards help keep the "ultra-cons" more holy than the rest of society?

Also, something that has bothered me for years, why don't the "ultra-cons" do anything to alleviate the suffering of innocent victims or to mitigate the impact that these things have on the lives of the people? Instead of reaching out and trying to help the innocent, they usually just throw the innocent away like rubbish along with the perps.

**** And none of this has anything to do with the opening post and the good man who was named there. This is just to follow the "hijack" that the thread's creator had done to his own thread.

I think that is what causes a lot of people to stop and start really thinking about things.

That is when we made our decision.

Agreed ....

They are supposed to be fences .... sometimes fences for the fences.... but apparently those who obsess over slits and skirt length would be better served gouging their own eyes.

I wouldn't want to go to a camp NOW where this stuff was preached, since I've been away from UPC for 19 years. But I would have gone when I was in, and would have expected this type of preaching at some point.
I guess every camp is different, depending on the region. As I said earlier, it was NOT the norm when I was growing up.

It's amazing to me, since coming to forums lo these many years ago, to find out just how different things were and are.

The dichotomy of Pentecost is bind boggling at times...

Re: SG: Ultra con darling?

bottom line, holiness has to be in the heart, and is revealed in passion for god and right, not in the hemline or the short or britches, lol
