The preacher that preaches against sin (and, yes, this needs to be done) needs to remember that he can be tempted and fall into sin as well so that that knowledge should temper how he teaches. IOW, he can and should preach against sin but with the love and mercy of God in view at all times.

There is nothing in the Bible that indicates there are specific words people said when they baptized people, or if they spoke anything at all for that matter. So, I don't think words are important, but I DO believe that the PERSON BEING BAPTIZED needs to believe that they are being baptized because they are following Jesus. Thus, they are being baptized in the name of Jesus, not Mohamed etc. It is the baptism of Jesus they are seeking.
So, lets say the "man" that baptized me said "I baptize you in the name of Jesus" or whatever. What if he claims he is a Christian, but in reality is living a lie? Now, is God looking at his life or mine? Are his words important, or my heart? Who is getting baptized? Who is supposed to be trusting in Jesus? ME! I am the one calling on Jesus, THAT is what matters.
Sorry, I guess we need to stop, we have messed up the purpose of this thread.

If they don't "watch over your soul" then they fail to fit the category as defined here by the writer of Hebrews; and thus they have no legitimate claim to "rule" over anybody because they can't even rule over their own passions and lusts.

Beats me, but it wasn't titled "debate the baptism thing again" LOL Also, I think the way my posts may be read is like I have a problem with being baptized in Jesus name, and I don't. I think it is fine, and likely is best to point out to the people that are watching the baptism what it is all about.
I won't say someone will go to hell just because the person talking didn't say the right stuff though, it seems to me that God is concerned with the heart of the individual being baptized, not the person doing the baptizing.
Oh, there I went again. LOL back to... Good evening visiting Pharisees....
