Here's an example of how some preachers could very well prepare for a sermon. Throw out a random scripture and write down 20 possible messages that would be catchy with the verse. (Don't bother ever understanding what the verse originally meant either). It's proof-texting. It's creative twisting -- and sometimes to make an honorable point even! Gone are the days (at least in Pentecost) of great expository preaching.

True! I've heard of people who do "preacher-training" by giving someone a verse and their job is to get up immediately and preach on it. That's insane. And they use the verse, "Be instant in season.....".

Oh man, this is funny. See how riled up people can get over an article? I didn't even read it before I posted it. Hahahah. The KJV only thing was rich. LOL. Man, I'm dying over here.

Maybe someone at CLC did this a time or two?

Oh yeah, a little Homiletics action.

Homiletics without Hermeneutics is Idiotics.

LOL - - so you copy and posted something that you didn't even read? Wow.

Oh, and no one is riled up either.

I think we're trying to have a serious grown-up conversation here.

Well, if it makes any difference, I actually do believe that women shouldn't wear pants. While I can defend what I believe, I don't have the time or the energy right now. Maybe later. I just googled it and thought it would be funny to post the article.

No, actually I didn't. I scanned it. If you look at the time stamp, you'll see I didn't have enough time. But whatever. But what would be weird about us reading the whole thing? Isn't that the courteous thing to do when someone is speaking to you.....to listen to them? You have a strange sense of values.

You post something for us to read, some read it, and you laugh at us for reading it. Sometimes I wonder if you might preach "standards" for someone to follow, they follow it, and then you laugh at them.
