Summer Fun
Us brothers got together tonight. My younger brother's wife fixed a fabulous meal and had activities planned for the kids. Thought I would post a few pics.

Re: Summer Fun
They have their own berry patches - rasberry, blueberry, blackberry and allowed the family to pick what was ready. Took the little row boat out and did smores on the fire.

Re: Summer Fun
I live in the city of Forest Park, Ohio. Right next to us is the city of Springdale. These are incorporated cities with their own government but we are in the Greater Cincinnati area and our mailing address uses Cincinnati. Actually, one post office covers two zip codes, one for Forest Park and the other for Springdale.
Right now in Springdale there is a Farmers' Market each Thursday from 3 to 7 pm. It is in the parking lot of a strip mall. One of the restaurants in the strip mall, Rileys, has an outdoor grill and they sell hamburgers, cheeseburgers, brats, hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwiches and also roasted corn on the cob. So, for the past couple of weeks we have gone there for our dinner.
Among the stands in the Farmers Market are a some Amish folks from a little north of here on the Ohio/Indiana border. We've bought zucchini bread and blackberry pies a couple of times. Those pies are great. They have a good taste and the crust is so thin and flaky. Maybe it's the lard they use.

Unfortunately true--lard makes the best pie crust. A nice compromise is to use half butter, half lard...and only have pie twice a year.
