Dear, this granny can move but why be so scared? I see worse at K-Mart on my shopping days. If all it takes is a few seconds to get in your mind and heart you are walking close enough to your precious Savior.
Yes, but why bring it into your home. i have to deal with enough junk around me at work. When I go home, I want it to be a safe haven. What if you fall asleep and leave the TV on? I don't want to have to worry about what my little girl will see if I don't change channels fast enough.

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

When my dear husband was alive and preaching the Word he taught judgement.
He'd say get off your backside and turn the channel if something offends you or your young ones should not be seeing.
Now that he's gone my kids got extra channels for me and I can watch craft shows and cooking shows that keep me active and learning. I watch some during the day and knit and study God's word at night.
Hasn't affected my daily walk with God. He's as real and dear to me today as he was 30 years ago.

You done went to my favorite poster list in just a few short, profound paragraphs.
The one single bolded sentance says everything needed to know about everything related to what we call "Standards" Nice.
I would like some of the cons. to pitch in on this debate, if you are willing. Hmmm. This could be one short debate seeing as how there's only three cons. on this forum.
Ok, so I've heard preachers say that they preach against Television because it's an evil device, exc. Others preach against the content (Hollywood, exc.). What is your opinion?
Is a Gun sin..no but shooting someone with it is.
get my point...an object cant be sin, its what you do with that object that makes something sinful.

And would you mind if someone pointed a gun at you?

@ standards If you never watch TV how do you know it only takes a few seconds to see something '"sinful"? And if you say you have seen it at work, offices, waiting rooms etc.. then I can guarantee you know who jennifer aniston is! For all of your holiness wailing you should realize you are in sin everytime you post on here with your deceptive personality!

Be a parent and only watch what is good for the family.
Experience is beautiful so let me explain it like this.
When you took your precious little girl to get vaccinations they include alittle of the virus in that shot. It builds her resistance to that disease. When you are too protective and shield your children from too much it can backfire on you. Children are going to be curious and learn so what better way than to teach yourself what is right and wrong.
I have seen too many protective innocent people go hog wild as soon they do not have that constant control over them. They don't have the tools they need to make good judgement calls. Give her instruction, guidance and she will be a much stronger Christian than someone that is protected and controlled.

Unless you are homeschooling in the basement that is a lost cause. If your daughter learns the foundational principles of teh word of God and how to love and walk close to Jesus nothing she sees on a tv ad will affect her. Now or later.
Of course cloistering up kids in a psuedo convent has been known to have the effect of making them look forward to the day they don't have to listen no more and can go wild.
