All of it is speculation except that the pastor did wrong by either lying or being dumb.

Thank you, Dan, for clarifying my terminology. Yes, I meant not in church as in not in a UPCI church. *edit* MsMcD has corrected me on this... her UPC pastor backed her, so apparently she was "in church," according to UPC terminology, just not in Bro Fogarty's.

I thought I remembered that about him. And if he didn't allow divorce except for adultery, he still didn't apparently worry about this divorce until three months before his daughter's wedding. That's weird.

Which sounds to me like she was swimming with her friend, and the husband was there.
