Re: Sex Scenes
@ socialite You are the one who asked if the sex scenes lead a man to sin go reread your first post!! And no sexual temptation is not reserved for 17-25 but it is hard to resisit when a man is that age. After 30 or so we realize that women like that are a dime a dozen and the priorities of life changes !! My arguement is simple just because a man looks at a woman or sees one in a movie we are not taking them to bed in our mind!!!!!! I do realize that some men do just like some women do and a greater percentage of men do! But you are wrong in assuming that most men do!!

Yes, I suppose. Just goes to show ya you can't always tell Christians by their church attendance.

I am sure you are right. It is also apparent that you are a female...

What I meant was sometimes brothers and sisters whose spouses aren't in church can get to where they starting some time alone with a brother or sister in a similar situation, and they can began to reason, this person is spiritual they understand me and this can lead to other things.
Please understand I'm not trying broadbrush believers whose spouses aren't believers. But all of us have weak spots where we need to be careful.
The devil has an achilles heel for each one of us,so we all must be careful and be aware of his devices.

I'm not really speaking from assumption.
Yes, I do in fact believe it's literally "every man's battle."

No kidding.
I had read this thread earlier this afternoon and found it very interesting about where people draw lines on what they watch or allowed to be watched in their homes. I guess my "lines" in my home are probably very similar to those of your wife.
I wasn't going to comment into this thread at all, until after I looked at my facebook newsfeed and saw a comment from a young man from our church who I had a great deal of respect for. He had commented that he was watching a movie, gave the title of the movie and commented that it was funny. Then one of the pastor's daughters had responded that it was a very funny movie. I thought, well, maybe it would be something my family might like. Boy was I VERY shocked at the movie review on pluggedinonline!
Over 100 uses of f-word. God's name in vain 10 times, and another 10 references to Jesus in an offensive manner, several crude sexual references, sexual situations....... among many other things.
Obviously people have VERY different places of drawing lines, or not drawing lines.

I've read the unplugged reviews many times. Without fail, is it just me, or is it really awkward how they tally up curse words, references to this or that, 7 cleavage spots, 10 scenes with tight clothing, 4 suggestive jokes, 2 adult scenarios, etc...?
Tina, yes, people definitely have different lines. While Unplugged can be helpful getting an idea of the movie, the tally system doesnt really tell the story for me. Schindler's List, for example, would sound like a X-rated film on the tally system, but the sense you get when watching the film is not titilation.

It's interesting that you would say this. My husband and I were discussing this very thing the other day. He said that he has never had trouble with women. He isn't the type of man that needed to have a woman all the time. We were discussing the differences between him and our son. Our son always has a girlfriend and my husband doesn't understand why he thinks he needs one.
On another note, I think that is why it annoys me when people try to say that Conservatives have more problems with sexual issues. I emphatically believe it is the make up of the person and doesn't have all that much to do with religious persuasion. I do believe that the Holy Ghost, if we are submitted, helps to curb some of this when it's not lining up with His Word, i.e., fornication, adultery, etc.
I also believe that movies can stimulate sexual desire in a viewer and can, in fact, be detrimental in the lives of some more than others. Not that I think nudity is ever good.
I remember a friend telling me that she asked her elderly father if he wanted to watch Gone With the Wind. He said, "Now, honey, that was a very sensual movie in my day." Look at where we are today?
I try to have movies that I am not ashamed for someone to see if they view my collection. I do have the Bourne Identity Trilogy and there is language, but I can't seem to get rid of it. Same with The Cowboys - I mean - it's John Wayne! What can I say?! LOL!
