Because that is what happened on the day in Pentecost?

I loved the little poem he read, authored by Don Basham.
LORD, if I don't get what the apostles got
The way they got what they got,
Then I won't know that I got what they got.
But, LORD, if I get what they got
The way they got what they got,
Then I'll know I got what they got.
Now how many call themselves Apostolic! Are we ashamed of the gospel
of Jesus Christ, that the apostles preached. The apostle Paul taught the
same thing they preached. Jesus taught all the Apostles. The Holy Ghost
still teaches today. It agrees with the Word. But we need the Spirit of the
Living God to illuminate our minds and open our understanding to the scrip-
tures.

Re: Allow me to Think Abstractly for a Moment
I'm not going to get into a big debate here ,but I do feel that tongues are an accompanying sign of being baptized with The Holy Ghost. Also too as one grows in The Lord the fruit of The Spirit will and should be evident in the life of a spirit filled believer.

I believe that tongues are the initial evidence that one has received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Do you?

Re: Allow me to Think Abstractly for a Moment
This is a link to some writings by a Baptist preacher that got baptized in the Holy Ghost. I don't agree with everything he wrote, but he made some valid points.

What is the state of a person that repents, but has not spoken in tongues yet? Are they still lost?
