Cannot agree. Peter said Baptism is part of salvation, and that would apply to Cornelius as well. You took references from Romans 8 that did not even mention salvation literally.

That's hilarious.

Cornelius is the smoking gun against a paradigm that rose up a century ago.

Sorry, Cornelius was demanded to be baptized, and baptism is part of salvation according to Peter and Jesus. Case closed. (That pesky Peter. And JESUS?).

That pesky Paul said those who had the Spirit of Christ were saved. Didn't Cornelius have the Spirit of Christ before he was baptized?

I agree, I thought it was quite ironic when the thought hit me this morning.

It is part of of what a saved, born again person as part of his conversion... not a Christian I know denies this ...

It's the other stuff, Blume ....

Sin washed away at a properly administered baptism
Glossalia ... the only and necessary initial evidence of Spirit baptism

Romans 8 is not figurative, my friend ... it shows the spiritual reality of a person who even in your paradigm is quickened to life from death ...

If those things be true of a Spirit-filled person as described by Paul in said passage... then the REALITY is Cornelius was gennao anothen .... or born from above prior to baptism.

Let's stop the theatrics and exclusivism ... the paradigm is flawed ....
and has gaping holes supported by assumptions and prooftexting.

Not at all, I just believe that we must go by what all the verses that relate to salvation says is required, some verses just focus on the faith aspect, others focus on the necessity of repentence, ect., but just because any particular verse only focuses on one aspect does not negate the necessity of what the other verses says are also a must.

("Pressing On" made a good point also in what they said also)

Also please consider that the Bible says we must "obey" the gospel, (gospel = death, burial, resurrection of Jesus Christ) and water baptism is how we obey the burial part of the gospel -

Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism....

A great and BIBLICAL thought, indeed, Froggy.

Sometime ago I posted a similar thought on Acts 10 and Romans 8 ... and the reality it bears out ....

http://apostolicfriendsforum.com/sho...king+cornelius

Also Jeffrey's thread on Spirit and Salvation also speaks on this ...

The Pelagians want us to re-enact the gospel ... since fully relying on His sufficient work is not enough....

Even Blume denies this analogy ... agree that Romans 6 tells us that all 3 "steps of the gospel" are conveyed in our baptism.
