Gotta Love those tracking Cookies
I was searching Tigerdirect.com for tool kits the other day; so today on Fox news I have a tigerdirect ad that revolves a series of different products, then stops on the took kits to display their price....kinda scary

Re: Gotta Love those tracking Cookies
I use the No-Script plugin with Firefox which helps quite a bit.

It would help if I used Firefox, but I get tired of it and go back to using Chrome. Then I get annoyed with Chrome for some reason or another and go to Firefox for a few weeks....

Those trackers are especially bad if you do travel searches.

Re: Gotta Love those tracking Cookies
Want to hear something scary.... OK, not so much scary as eye brow raising. We are proud owners of the Logitech Harmony One universal remote. Recently the battery life has really gone to pot on it and I tried ordering a new battery. When trying to replace the one in it I found it was swollen pretty badly and could not be removed. I called their tech support to ask HOW to remove it and discovered this was a common problem. The only thing to do is replace the whole remote.
Since the programming is done through your PC AND through a special logged in account they knew exactly what TV and stereo equipment we owned and the exact settings of my remote. The first ID question the guy on the phone asked was the make and model of the 47 inch TV we had in our living room.
Do they know what channels we are watching? I doubt it, but it is possible. It is very possible... This is an extremely intelligent remote capable of harvesting all sorts of user data on it that the average person would have no clue was being taken.

Re: Gotta Love those tracking Cookies
We love our Harmony One and have no plans to stop using it, but it does make me think how easily any number of companies could know anything and everything about you.
