Re: Exodus 19 and boundries

Regarding pastors having the authority to set the boundaries for their congregations: I was raised in a UPC church and I've always been taught to be obedient to the pastor otherwise I'd be in danger of hellfire. And sometimes, my pastor's personal convictions were implemented along with the strict "standards" we all were required to follow. If you didn't follow, you were labeled sinful and rebellious.

Sadly, it was discovered he had lived a double life in a homosexual relationship for years and had molested several young boys in our church. I sincerely pray he is finding forgiveness and restoration. I also pray for the men that were affected by this.

I know my situation is extreme, but I can't tell you the uneasiness I feel when I hear this sermon being preached. I will always honor and respect the position, but blindly follow because "I'm your pastor and I have the authority to set your boundaries for you"? Never again.
