Re: Fat Burners
I've never tried fat burners. But I did loose 70 pounds while on the South Beach diet. A year and a half later I've gained 18 of it back though. lol
I have to get back into it.

Firstly, let me state that I'm not looking for a "magic pill" that will make me lose weight. I know what it takes. I was at 257#, and after lots of hard work and eating discipline I'm now 195#, but I want to get down to around 155#, my height is 5'8" and I'm 47 yrs old.
This is what I do- Tue,Thur,Sat I do upper body weight resistance training and 30 min on exercise bike. Mon,Wed,Fri,Sat I do the exercise bike for an hour. Everyday I do "crunch twists" for my abs.
I consume around 1500 calories a day.
I went from a 42 waist, now I'm at 35.
But I can't seem to lose my gut and "spare tire", at least not as fast as I would like to! I don't think I'm burning off muscle mass because I take protein supplements.I also limit my carbs to less than 150.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm not looking to be freakishly musclebound, but wouldn't mind being a little "ripped".

I have tried the some fat burners before. They helped me get started on my losing 70 lbs. I used Hydroxycut, but not to the exact directions. I used a lesser dosage because I didn't want to over do it.
There are some good ones out there. I read what your goals are so I would take either Atro-Phex by BSN or Spirodex by Gaspari Nutrition. All of Gaspari's things have independent studies done on them and if you read those they can give great insight. I would also recommend do up the intensity of the cardio some. I don't run much because it really jars my back, but I am trying to get it better. I acutally do the elliptical machine and I do it rather hi-intensity. I do 1 hour at generally 50-60 rpms or 3-4 mph if I am doing the "manual" setting. I like the intervals or the mountains because it helps tone the legs not just burn calories. Now keep in mind it takes burning roughly 3,500 to equal 1 pound of fat. The key is to do things that keep the body burning calories while you are sleeping, eating, etc. Basicically you want it to burn while you are not working out. Swimming is also a great thing to do. ManofWord is a great person to ask because of all the high-intensity stuff he does for his races.
I always try and push myself to go farther and harder, but make sure that you do it wisely or else you be like me now. I haven't really lifted in 3 months because of shoulder issues. I haven't lost muscle mass because of protein intake and light lifting. I am sure that you are eating well too, but shocking the system isn't bad. You could eat raw like veggies and stuff for a month and the body fat will drop and you can slowly add some dairy and or lean meats like fish back. I am recently a vegetarian, my wife and I. I continue to drop weight. I feel great and take vitamins too. I do eat some dairy and fish, but mainly just a plant based diet. The other day we went to Paradise Bakery and order their Vegetarian Sandwich and Tomato Soup. After we ordered the Manager told me that the soup has a chicken stock base. I took maybe 3 bites and it tasted gross (it used to be my favorite) and I was literally sick the rest of the day.
Good Luck!

That was last december. I quit the fatburners. i switched to a treadmill instead of the ex.bike. I can burn more calories in less time that way. I'm doing heavier weights now. not really losing much weight, but the bodyfat is disappearing. I'm thinking about starting P-90X.
