The "convert" happens to be Saul of Tarsus giving an account of his life and his salvation.
A beautiful story wherein Saul had come to the realization of who this Jesus really was. Ananias was, in effect, saying the same thing that was instructed in
Acts 2:21 "And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Every other account of baptism doesn't give the impression that the person being baptized is saying anything at all. There are more scriptures that appear to be showing that the one baptizing is the one invoking the wording - in the name of Jesus.
Acts 8:16 "(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them:
only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Acts 10:48 "And
he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days."
Acts 19:5 "When they heard this,
they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus."
