I believe they asked for those that were "refilled" to raise there hands too, so the number is inclusive of those - - not just all first time.

Any overestimation of numbers at this event should be attributed, not to the energetic tellers, but rather the fact that the event took place in TEXAS!

It is not official UPC doctrine but preached by some UPC ministers that we are to maintain our salvation be being renewed (speaking with tongues) every day. So 5,000 people fell into that category that they had not spoken in tongues for a while (more than a day since they spoke with tongues?). These would be like those that AM exhorted to not leave the service at the LA Camp Meeting until they spoke with tongues.
I'm sure we need to take these numbers with a grain of salt. I'm not saying they are lies but I'm sure they are "evangelistically speaking" and therefore inflated. BUT every time some one is baptized in water and every time someone is baptized in the Spirit it is cause for rejoicing and thanking God.
