But I am having a huge issue with the Christianity I see coming from both sides of the issue, it is seriously flawed. The disgust and animosity I see from those still in the "boat" is mirrored by the disgust and animosity I see by those who have left the "boat." And neither side compels me to want any of it.

I'm dismayed as well. I was talking with another Pastor's wife yesterday, and I expressed to her that we have become just another "Religion". These folks are well known amongst UPCI ranks, and she agreed with me...
I think there may be more people out there that feel this way than we realize. For years, many have gone forward and might be afraid to say something that possibly challenges our old ideas or convictions, either for political reasons, or, they're just "Stuck" in Tradition.
I'm one to take chances and be transparent with fellow ministers. I figure I have nothing to lose, other than a friend who was never really my friend. We hide behind our Apostolic Heritage, or a big name in Pentecost, but people are peeking around the corner. I think they might be tired of broken promises and dreams that never came to pass.
People are also questioning the radical views once or currently held by Church leaders. Wedding rings, facial hair, TV, makeup, and numerous other concepts benchmarked as a must to be saved, are now being reviewed and analyzed with a valid, "Why?".
Good point on the animosity issue. I agree, we should love one another despite differences in Doctrine or how one might interpret Scripture. I do feel though, that UC's are more prone to ignite the fire of discord as any blending with other Christians outside of Apostolicism is deemed as dangerous.
